Technical Support

CAMI's experienced staff can operate any of our instruments on users' behalf. Due to regulatory and safety concerns, only CAMI staff may operate the PET and SPECT scanners, and it is strongly recommended that CAMI staff operate the MRI scanners.

The IVIS Spectrum and cell culture room are available to users who complete orientation, but CAMI staff are available for technical support upon request.

There is an additional fee for technical support outside standard business hours.

Vet Tech Services

CAMI provides vet tech services in support of preclinical imaging experiments including

  • Anesthesia induction and maintenance
  • Intravenous injections
  • Tail vein catheterization
  • Oral gavage
  • Tissue collection

There is an additional fee for vet tech services outside standard business hours.

Image Analysis

CAMI staff have expertise in image analysis strategies ranging from commercial software packages to custom code written in Matlab and Python. After an initial consultation, we can perform image analysis on users' behalf or assist in developing a workflow for them to execute. Two image analysis workstations are available to users in the CAMI lobby.

Available software packages include:

  • Amira
  • Living Image (for IVIS data analysis)
  • JIM (for MRI analysis)
  • Segment (for cardiac image analysis)

Radiolabeling

In some cases, CAMI staff can perform radiolabeling on users' behalf. Please contact Chad Haney to discuss options.

Gamma Counting

CAMI offers gamma counting services for quantitative ex vivo corroboration of in vivo PET and SPECT imaging results. This is especially valuable in validating results when weak signal is detected in vivo. CAMI staff can collect tissue samples after nuclear imaging and compare signal from the in vivo image  to activity measured in the samples by the gamma counter, which would be taken as ground truth.
