History and Mission

Northwestern University has a long-term commitment to creating new areas of knowledge through interdisciplinary collaboration among the biological, clinical, engineering, and physical sciences. Its strategic plan emphasizes a commitment to shared research resources and technologies. The Center for Advanced Molecular Imaging (CAMI) within Northwestern’s Chemistry of Life Processes Institute (CLP) is the brainchild of Prof. Thomas Meade, and was designed from the ground up to provide biomedical researchers with the most advanced imaging tools in the world and talented personnel to use them to maximum advantage. CAMI opened in Silverman Hall on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus in 2010 with the mission of providing resources for anatomical and functional imaging using a wide range of imaging modalities, including magnetic resonance, optical, and nuclear techniques.
