Chad R. Haney

Chad R. Haney

Managing Director, CAMI

Dr. Haney is a Research Professor in the Chemistry of Life Processes Institute at Northwestern University. He is also a Research Professor in Radiology and Biomedical Engineering by courtesy.

Dr. Haney is a biomedical engineer and has been working on multi-modality imaging for over a decade. Previous personal research, with multiple collaborators, involved attempting to identify a signature for successful treatment of a novel anti-vascular treatment using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Imaging (EPRI). He has developed a method to use histology and image registration to determine the accuracy of these imaging biomarkers. In a similar project, Dynamic Contrast Enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) was used to assess the response to an anti-angiogenic drug. Both projects are being used to develop new DCE-MRI analysis methods.

He helped establish preclinical nuclear imaging at Northwestern University. He has collaborated on multiple projects using Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) with radiotracers developed at Northwestern. He is involved with using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with Computed Tomography (CT) to try to detect early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease in transgenic mice using a novel tracer developed at Northwestern.

Although cancer research is his primary area of interest, he has collaborated with a diverse group of researchers from evolutionary biologists to material scientists. In addition to working with fortune 500 companies, he has had his own NIH funding as well.
