Job Summary
Center for Advanced Molecular Imaging (CAMI) is seeking a PhD-level Preclinical Nuclear Imaging Research Manager who will be responsible for carrying out imaging studies for various disease models (cancer, cardiovascular, neurological, etc.) and drug discovery using preclinical nuclear medicine and CT scanners. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a background in imaging physics and experience with preclinical radionuclide/CT studies. The Preclinical Nuclear Imaging Research Specialist is expected to support investigators by providing technical consultation on study design, implementing imaging studies, and data processing. He/she will be responsible for research safety, training, archiving imaging data, maintenance and quality control for nuclear medicine scanners. The successful candidate is expected to rigorously follow all guidelines and regulations regarding animal research and radiation safety, and be very organized, detail-orientated, and motivated to learn new skills in a small animal imaging setting.
This individual will be a member of CAMI and joining a team of research scientists and technicians, who are part of the Chemistry of Life Processes (CLP) Institute, dedicated to the development and intercalation of preclinical imaging and drug discovery, to perform translational research. CAMI encompasses over 5,000 square-foot, dedicated to small animal imaging, and is equipped with state-of-the-art preclinical imaging systems, including MRI, optical, and SPECT/CT scanners. Additionally CAMI has its own microscopy suite, cell culture room, and vivarium.
Job Qualifications:
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related science
- Proven work experience with nuclear imaging
- Prior experience working with small animals and radiochemistry strongly preferred
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Two to four years of work experience in nuclear imaging studies in academia or industry
- Proficiency in image acquisition, image analysis, and nuclear medicine
- Prior small animal handling experience is desired, but not required
- Must be organized and be meticulous in record keeping
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with members of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required
